Hearty Spaghetti
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1 lb Italian sausage (spicy turkey preferred)
6 oz tomato paste
Two 24 oz jars pasta sauce of your choice
1 diced green bell pepper
Half an onion, diced
5 garlic cloves, minced
Seasonings: Italian seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, adobo (to taste)
1 lb spaghetti pasta
Directions
In a large pan, add the ground turkey and Italian sausage (without casings). Cook over medium heat until browned, about 5 minutes.
Add the diced green bell pepper and onion to the meat. Cook until the vegetables are translucent and the meat is cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Season the mixture with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and adobo to taste. Mix well.
Add the tomato paste and jarred pasta sauce to the pan. Pour a little water into each empty sauce jar, shake to loosen any remaining sauce, and add these to the pan. Stir everything to combine.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, following package instructions.
Let the sauce simmer on low for 15-20 minutes, adjusting seasoning as needed.
Drain the pasta and either mix it directly into the sauce or serve the sauce on top of the pasta, depending on your preference.
Enjoy your hearty spaghetti with a fresh garden salad and warm breadsticks! It also makes fantastic leftovers—just store them in an airtight container and reheat for another delicious meal.
